Naomi’s “Legacy in Prayer” is centered on the theme of friendship and relationships. Page 135 our text suggest that we praise God for giving us the power to form deep and lasting relationships; thank God for the variety of friends that he has given us; confess our tendency to be too busy to pay attention to our friends; and finally, that we ask God to make us a more loyal and loving friend in the years to come.
I received a call from my accountability partner last week. She called to thank me for being her friend. She caught me off guard when she said, “You never judge me.” I was speechless when she said, “You always take the time to listen to me.” You have to be a friend to have a friend for she is a mirror image of all the things she said to me. Let us not take our friendships for granted and remain accountable to each other just as Ruth and Naomi so eloquently displayed.

1. Choose three or four words you think would describe what Naomi experienced in verses 3-5.
2. If you have ever faced a totally unclear future, what did you learn from that situation?
3. What do verses 8-18 reveal about the relationship that Naomi and Ruth had?
4. What is more important in life: your circumstances or your reactions to them? Explain your answer.

I can't comment about Ruth and not Naomi. Naomi was a mother in law who sought the best for her daughter-in laws. Even after the death of her sons and her husband, she didn't worry about her needs only what was best for Ruth and Orpah. This love that she demonstrated compelled Ruth to want to care for her and be by her side. Ruth left her family and beliefs to cleave to Naomi. Naomi instructed Ruth on how to be a proper Jewish woman and as a result of their relationship Ruth met and married Boaz a wealthy man. Young ladies there are benefits to listening to your elders and following their instructions !!!!
