Her name means, "Storm," "Arrogance," "Broad," or "Spacious"
What a touching story and a true lesson on faith. While Rahab demonstrated a number of good qualities in this story, God also show us here that he uses people out of the ordinary to do his work. In the story of this week’s WOB we also learn how important Rahab’s family is to her. Faith, discernment, and compassion are just some of the qualities that Rahab possessed. Let me know your thoughts as you answer one or all of the questions below:
1. Although Rahab was a prostitute, the lowest profession for a woman, what good characteristics did she have?
2. Why do you think God would choose to use someone like Rahab?
3. What does this say about the people God might choose to use today to further his kingdom?
4. Why do you think the spies were willing to deal with Rahab, their lives in exchange for hers?
5. James mentions Rahab in his plea for believers not to forget that works are an important outgrowth of faith. How did Rahab’s actions demonstrate this truth?

In our studies for September of New Self Confidence, I can really see Rahab's confidence in God through her actions. They did not have the completed word of God as we do today, but they had "word of mouth". She heard of what God had done for the children of Israel and feared HIM. She had confidence that if she aligned herself with the people of God, she could save not only herself but her entire family. We must have this confidence in God today. If we are obedient to His word, we must believe that God will be faithful. He promised us in Psalms that we delight ourselves in HIM, that he would give us the desires of our heart. I pray for my church family and my physical family and I believe that God will be faithful to HIS word and listen to my prayers.
God's choice of using Rahab is an example for us today. Sometimes we are choosey about who we associate with. This doesn't mean that we shouldn't choose our friends carefully; however, God chose to use Rahab, regardless of her profession. We must be careful not to discount people because they may not measure up to our standards.
