Sarah - "Chieftainness" or "Princess"

Photo is related to my personal comment. Click on the Comment link below to view:

Sarah was a beautiful woman, very strong-willed and boy was she a jealous one. Nevertheless, Sarah was considered a loyal wife who did what was right and did not give in to fear.

Think about and respond to the one or all of the following:

Put yourself in Sarah's position, do you think you might have laughed also? Why or why not?

God fulfilled his promise to Abraham and Sarah in his time. Describe how you think they felt about God's timing.

Have you ever waited for God to fulfill a promise? How did you feel? What did you do?

Using these verses, (Gen. 16: 6; 18:12, 15; 21:10) choose five adjectives that describe Sarah. In what ways are you similar to Sarah? In what ways are you unlike her?

God used Sarah in spite of her failings, her impatience. How can God use you in spite of your imperfections.

After reading about Sarah, I thought about what I went through in my marriage and how being patient and waiting on the Lord truly turned my life around. I must admit it was tough. I don't know about you, but I noticed that whenever I stepped in before God, things became worse for me and my marriage. I had to (literally)learn through my own blood, sweat, tears, heartaches, and pain to humble myself and allow God to do his fine work even when I didn't think it should happen in that way. Once I surrendered myself to the Lord, my blessings started pouring in all at once. I waited 2 years for God to remove me from what was hurting me for 7. My sistahs, whatever it is that you are going through, I beg you to PLEASE WAIT on the LORD. Focus on YOU and your relationship with God. Learn to talk with him as you would talk to your best friend. Get so close to knowing him that you feel his presence around you. You may not like the way things are turning out for you right now, but take it from me, when you put God first, in the end it's ALL GOOD!!!

Sarah was born during a time when women were subject to their husbands in everyway. When Abraham lied and gave her over to another man not once but twice, that had to be difficult for her. Yet she continued to love and honor him. Her strongest desire was to give Abraham a male heir. Despite of all her faults, Sarah had to be not only beautiful but also very strong.

After my first child, I was unable to have more children. I was devastated because I wanted to have at least one more child. About a year after I had accepted this fact, my brother and his six-year old daughter moved to where I was living. Guess who got to share in raising her, yes lucky me! My niece and I built a relationship that is as close as a mother and daughter. She calls me on a regular basis and has shared some of her deepest secrets with me. While she can never replace my own daughter, I know how blessed I am to have her in my life. This past weekend she graduated from college. As I watched her walk across the stage, I couldn’t have been more proud—just like a mother. I didn’t laugh; I just smiled at how God had once again blessed me. We don’t always understand why things happen, we just need to know that he has to box top to the puzzle and he knows where all of the pieces go.

Sis. Lauretta, I really thank you for your comment, because waiting on the Lord is the key to success in marriage and life. I am truly learning this in my marriage. I have been married for fours years this past week and honey when I tell you waiting on the Lord is key, it is key! I know you know. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, because this shows me that all my prayers are not in vain and this is just another way the Lord has spoken to me by saying just wait on me my child I will take care of all your heartaches.
