Eve, our first lady. Let's begin with a few of the questions from Wednesday's reading:
How easily do you think it was for the serpent to deceive Eve? Do you think she ate of the fruit the first time he approached her, or did he wear her down over a period of time?
Even though Eve knew that her sin was wrong, she could come up with a variety of reasons for eating from the tree anyway. What sorts of reasons do you come up with to rationalize your sin?
Describe Adam's situation. In this paradise, what need did he have that was not being met that only a woman could fulfill?
FYI
From the book, Wisdom from Women in the Bible, Edith Deen writes, "God has given me another child instead of Abel, whom Cain killed," said Eve, the wife of Adam, when their last named son Seth was born. Eve's tribulation, the narrative implies, was her testing time. Amid her grief over the loss of her most promising son, Abel, and the blighted hope in her wayward son, Cain, she must have suffered poignant heartaches." Edit also writes that after Seth's birth Eve gained a new perspective and that she was to know, as Job later learned, that God is just and that he does not fail those who serve and patiently wait on him. A sorrowing mother like Eve was sure to learn also that God never lets us grieve for long.
Final Thought
Also, Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there. Mothers, everyone had one with the exception of Adam and Eve.

Eve ate that apple because she wanted to.
Eve is an apple eater.
Adam's wife strayed.
Eve listens to snakes and chows apples.
There is so much to say here in reference to Eve as a woman and a daughter of God. I'll summarize by adding these comments; as a result of making a hastened decision without consulting with Adam first and having doubt of God's word, Eve committed a sin that ultimately affected all man kind.
Often times in our own lives as wives, mothers and daughters of God, we too make hastened decisions not realizing the aftermath it often leaves on our families both spiritual and fleshly. This was a great story and leaves so much to be said. We are all a work in progress striving to make heaven our home. However, because Eve used her power of pursuasion towards Adam in a negative way, she ultimately put a wedge between Adam and His God not to mention herself and all the seed to follow. With that said, we must be careful with the power we have as Christian women. We have the power to pursuade our spouses also. It can be in a positive or negative manner, but know this, we have the power to cause great dismay and havoc among God's people and the power to bring unity and love by using positive pursuasiveness.
I am learning. Each day is a constant struggle for me, but as I learn to let go and let God have His way, I am learning that it is going to be alright. From my readings, I have several interpretations: The first influence of a woman towards mankind was sinful and caused a ripple effect of destruction; we are not put on earth to lead, but to guide and support; we must realize that we are the weaker vessal and can often be misguided in our daily decision making by others and should always consult God our Saviour as we struggle with our daily spiritual walk. I'm finding that this is what keeps us aligned with God and keeps us doing His will and not our own.
I love you all. Faye, this is going to be so helpful for many of us as we strive to be better Christian women, wives and mothers. May God add a special blessing to your life for your heartfelt act of love.
In Love,
Sis. Miriam Patterson
